Under the Long Range Strategic Plan, the balanced scorecard provides a
matrix of performance measures that address the four goal areas of the
LRSP: Academic Performance, Operations and Capacity Building, Community
Engagement and External Relations, and Student Success/Safety/
Health/Welfare. Key indicators are defined, a baseline established,
targets set, and strategies developed to measure movement toward the
targets. The balanced scorecard is used to identify and improve various
internal functions and their resulting external outcomes while at the
same time measuring and providing feedback to our organization in order
to assist in implementing strategies and objectives. The Balanced
Scorecard is used by the Board of Trustees and other audiences to focus
on performance and results, and focus attention on the mega issues and
trends necessary to be studied in the 5-10 year planning horizon. We
refer to the Balanced Scorecard as a tool to measure the "climate" of
the District.
